This moment captured by @joshgerritsen last fall was pretty great, but to be honest our cover crop scene last season pretty much sucked. Our between beds annual rye died out because it was sooo dry and green manures got weedier than we hoped and we didn’t get winter rye planted because there just wasn’t enough hours in a day. Just in case it looked like we knew what we were doing;) Currently working up a better plan for 2019. Let’s do this! #betterlucknextyear #covercrops
New year=new pack shed/walk in/drying space/studio. Staying up til midnight processing flowers is fun and all but we also like eating meals together and feeling human. Which brought us to the idea of upgrading our work space to have better work flow, more cooler space and a little more climate control. Hey farmers, what are some key elements you feel are most important with your wash/pack/processing spaces??? 🥂 to feeling more human in 2019!!!#happynewyear
Happy holidays everyone from us at understory farm! 2018 has been incredible and we’re super pumped for another great season. As they say here in Colorado, where we’re visiting right now, we’re ready to “shred the gnar” next year! ❤️❤️❤️
Seeds have all arrived, potting mix on the way, employees lined up, farm truck leaf spring busted out of truck bed unbusted into its proper place, most of our 2018 profits spent and budget mostly worked out. Still a zillion farmy things to do before we fire up the greenhouses but right now we mostly are spending time with family and friends, playing lots of hockey and catching up on sleep. We’ll start posting outrageous farm pics and losing sleep soon enough but for now Happy Holidays friends!!!
Found some fresh flowers amongst the rotting cabbage in the greenhouse we call “pig greenhouse”. At one point we had 3 sows and 25 piglets in this house. Turns out I prefer the rotting cabbage 🤭
Heavy wet snow and a head cold means I got a chance to do some long neglected work on our story page for our website. Dug up some priceless pics: 1. When we lived in the hunting camp. 2. Sawyer vs steer at @seansfarmwagon 3. When we packed up our old truck and moved east. #timeflies
I didn’t get any good photos of all the thanksgiving centerpieces or wreaths or mixed bouquets that went out to adorn people’s holiday, but I did capture this once in a lifetime thanksgiving full moon ski jump by Sawyer 🎿🎿🎿 Happy thanksgiving friends!
